Victim Assistance & Safe Environment
The Archdiocese of San
Antonio has established an Office of Victim Assistance and Safe
Environment (OVASE). The vision of the Office is to inform and
implement their vision for creating a safe environment for all ages.
The first step for St. Peter the Apostle was to train a Coordinator
for each parish. Rick Zapf has been chosen and trained to help
implement the Archdiocesan vision of a safe environment. Rick Zapf
has been on staff with Children’s Ministries and has a background in
counseling with children and families.
The Archdiocese
already implemented a policy for all staff and volunteers to have a
criminal background check and to watch the Archdiocesan Sexual
Misconduct Video. OVASE will continue this practice to help insure a
safe environment. Rick has met with staff of all levels of faith
formation regarding implementing “Child Lures” and "Yellow Dyno"
into the current curriculum. As a parent, you will also be
encouraged to go beyond the Archdiocesan guidelines at home with
your children. Parent information is available online by following
the links on this page.
We hope the
Archdiocese policy and materials will encourage and promote a safer
environment for our community, parish, and our family. Should you
need to report abuse relating to the church you can contact:
