Protecting God's Children (Safe Environment)
We are extremely grateful for all of our volunteers for various ministries.
Office of Victim Assistance & Safe Environment (OVASE)
2019 New Safe Environment Requirements
***IMPORTANT: ALL VOLUNTEERS***
The Archdiocese of San Antonio has come out with new training requirements for all employees and volunteers. All employees and volunteers are asked to create an account on VIRTUS at virtus.org.
Once you create an account, you can then sign the new Code of Conduct policy. The Archdiocese is using VirtusOnline to keep track of all training and code of conduct policies. It is imperative that every parishioner who volunteers creates an online account. This is the new tracking system. If you are not able to create an account, please e-mail Deacon Brad Wakely at [email protected] for assistance.
In addition to the required training, all employees and volunteers for ANY ministry must have a completed background check. A copy of the form can be found on the parish website HERE, or you may pick up a copy in the office. Background checks are automatically processed every three years unless you call our office and revoke permission to run the background check.
Code of Conduct Policy
Every employee and volunteer must sign the new Code of Conduct policy online. The policy will update every three years. This new policy replaces the Sexual Misconduct Training (SMT) that was previously required. The code of conduct policy can be found on Virtus at virtus.org.
Sexual Harassment Online Training Module 1.0
Every employee and volunteer must take the Sexual Harassment Online Training Module 1.0. The policy can be found on Virtus at virtus.org. This training must be renewed every three years.
Protecting God’s Children
All employees and clergy are required to take this course, and any volunteers who minister to children (EFF, Edge, Good Shepherd, Life Teen, etc.). Must be renewed every three years. This course will automatically be assigned to you when you create your VIRTUS account and you state that you work with children.
Vulnerable Adults Training
All employees and clergy are required to take this course, and any volunteers who minister to vulnerable adults (ACTS Core or Team Members, Prison Ministry, Homebound or Nursing Home, etc.). Must be renewed every three years.
You do not need to print out a copy of your certificates and bring it into the office. All certificates are kept on virtus.org. If you have any questions please call Deacon Brad Wakely at (830) 816-5630.
